2. Onions and Chives
These are all a major no-no for cats (and other furry friends). Plants of this type, whether raw or cooked, cause a cat’s red blood cells to burst. Even a small amount of garlic powder (which is more toxic than onions) can swiftly lead to hemolytic anemia and even death within days, not to mention the gastrointestinal upset. Your cat will be in a great deal of pain! If you take garlic pills or use these veggies to season your food, keep them away from kitties. Steer clear of other plants in the Allium family such as leeks, shallots and scallions too.
Onions and chives contain toxic allium components that can be very harmful to cats. It can damage their red blood cells when eaten in large quantities causing ver severe side effects. If your cat got into the chives or onions and you notice any sort of orange or red tint to their urine, take them to a vet right away.
