An authoritarian ruler is using Instagram to tap into his softer side. Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov’s cat is missing and he is asking his 1.8 million followers for help.
The cat is a Toyger who disappeared 10 days ago, according to a post on his account.
Part of the post reads, “We all thought that he would reappear, since he is very attached to the children and loves to play with them and go out with them in the yard. But now we have begun to seriously worry.”
National Public Radio describes Kadyrov as “ruling the Russian republic of Chechnya with an iron fist and stifling dissent.”
Bizarre Instagram Feed
The staunch supporter of Vladimir Putin has become somewhat of a social-media sensation. His Instagram posts are filled with share-worthy descriptions of his masculinity. One of his most popular pictures shows him holding and “tickling” a tiger. In one video, he apparently wrestles an alligator. Photos of his work-out routine are also common in his Instagram feed.
For now though, Kadyrov is not feeling so pumped.
Despite the post’s more than 30,000 likes and 600 comments, his cat has not been returned.
The full Instagram post reads, “We have completely lost our cat. He looked like a little tiger cub. Visitors have always said that he is very, very similar to a tiger cub. Ten days ago, he disappeared. We all thought that he would reappear, since he is very attached to the children and loves to play with them and go out with them in the yard. But now we have begun to seriously worry. Perhaps he is with someone nearby. That person may not know how to find the owners. I am sure that no one needs someone else’s cat. Therefore, we would be grateful for any information. Thanks in advance.”
